'There was always a risk,' Steve McClaren comments on Jordon Ibe loan

The Derby boss has been discussing the Liverpool loanee's future.

Derby County boss Steve McClaren admits there 'was always a risk' of Jordon Ibe being recalled by Liverpool.

The 19-year-old's impressive Championship form for the Rams has left the Reds considering cutting his loan spell short with him returning to Anfield.

And Derby boss McClaren says he always understood that that could be a possibility for Liverpool.

However, his advice to the Anfield side is to leave Ibe at Pride Park - although he could be a tad biased in his assessment.

"Jordon is on a youth loan, so we knew there was always a risk of that happening," the Derby County boss told reporters, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

"The boy is developing and getting better. Liverpool can see that. We can see that. My advice is keep him here and develop him even more."

Ibe was loaned to Derby at the start of the season by Liverpool and manager of his parent club Brendan Rodgers was recently glowing in his praise of the 19-year-old forward.
