Ozil explains why watching Arsenal has been 'bitter' for him

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil says watching the club while injured has been frustrating for him.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has admitted it’s been difficult for him to watch from the sidelines while he’s been injured.

Ozil has revealed to German tabloid Bild that he’s excited about his return to the side, refusing to rule out a title and Champions League challenge from the Gunners over the second half of the season.

“I worked hard – I want to finally return to the field. Watching injured has been very bitter for me,” said Ozil.

“In the Premier League anything can happen, a lot can also happen in the Champions League.”

Ozil is undoubtedly a top quality player who is capable of turning matches on their head for the Gunners and his return will provide the side with a welcome boost.

Ozil will be the first to admit that his form before he got injured for Arsenal wasn’t good enough and it will frustrate him that he’s not been able to make up for the inconsistency he showed over the first half of the season.

However, that should give him a deep determination to succeed and make a difference for the club when he’s available.

Ozil’s best quality is the way he controls possession and dictates the flow of Arsenal’s attacking play and his spell out of the side would have also given him the chance to study the way the side has been playing tactically recently.

It will also be more difficult for the teams preparing to face Ozil because they’ll be studying footage of the Gunners and reading reports from scouts about an Arsenal side, which hasn’t had the German in it.

Arsenal are better with Ozil than without him and he’ll soon have a chance to chase down former Gunner Cesc Fabregas in terms of assists and change that bitterness he’s felt looking on, into something sweeter.
