Gary Neville explains why Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be ‘frustrated’ with festive period results

Gary Neville believes that Louis van Gaal will have wanted Manchester United to play better during the festive period.

Gary Neville believes that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will not be entirely happy with how his side fared over the festive period.

United defeated Liverpool 3-0 at Old Trafford and drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at Villa Park before Christmas.

Then on Boxing Day, the Red Devils eased past Newcastle United 3-1 at home before drawing goalless with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

On Thursday, United played out 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, extending their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 10 matches.

“They have come out of it well because they are unbeaten, but I think he (Van Gaal) will still be frustrated because he is a performance man,” former United defender Neville told Sky Sports. “He will be frustrated with certain aspects of the game, like the passing.”

United have not been exactly great during their unbeaten run and have won matches that they probably should not have.

Injuries have not helped Van Gaal’s side, of course, but the Manchester outfit remain on course for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

And that’s the main thing.
