Derby County captain Shaun Barker has said that he is recovering well from his long-term injury problems.
The 32-year-old has been out of competitive action since March 2012, missing the last two seasons in the process.
However, things have looked positive since the start of the 2014-15 campaign, with Barker featuring in training with Derby’s Under-21 side.
The former Blackpool defender is still not ready for a return to action, but he insists that he is recovering well from his problem and is looking forward to training with the first team soon.
To say I'm pleased with the last 2 weeks of training is an understatement! Blocks, tackles, 1v1s, half pitch games and a goal to finish ;)— Shaun Barker (@barks5) January 2, 2015
All the sessions were with the 21s. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll finally join in some stuff with the first team squad! #fingerscrossed— Shaun Barker (@barks5) January 2, 2015
Still got lots to prove before I'm ready for a game situation but it's progressing well at the moment. Thanks for all your kind words!— Shaun Barker (@barks5) January 2, 2015
Derby are currently third in the Championship table with 45 points from 24 matches, just two points behind second-placed Ipswich Town.
