Arsenal substitute Chuba Akpom: I'm dying to get on every game

Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom says he is determined to make the most of his first team chances.

Arsenal teenager Chuba Akpom is determined to take any chances which come his way between now and the end of the season.

The 19-year-old came off the bench in the defeat to Southampton for the final six minutes of the game and is clearly hoping for more opportunities.

He was only able to touch the ball three times in his limited outing, but spoke after the game to insist he is loving being involved and wants more game time.

He told “I’m starting to train with them a bit more and I’m getting more of a feel about how it is to be on the bench.

“I’m just dying to get on every game and every minute counts. I try my best to make the most of each opportunity that I get, so when I went out there I just gave 100 per cent.

“Every game I’m hoping to get an opportunity. I just want to play. I’m hungry for it now. I want to show the boss what I’m made of and I think that I’m ready."

There could be a big chance for Akpom on the horizon this weekend. Olivier Giroud is serving the final game of his suspension against Hull City in the FA Cup, while Danny Welbeck is uncertain to be available after missing the Southampton game with a thigh injury.

Arsene Wenger has often rotated his squad in the FA Cup in the past, and despite their status as defending champions, it would not be a surprise to see him hand Akpom a starting role rather than rush Welbeck back to lead the line.
