Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident that Federico Fazio will not do anything rash against Chelsea today.
Argentina international defender Fazio has a record of getting heated up in matches and has been dismissed on two separate occasions for Spurs already this season.
Last January the 27-year-old centre-back clashed with Diego Costa during a match between Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
The two players are set to face each other today when Tottenham host Chelsea at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
Fazio has established himself as a key player in the Tottenham team, and Pochettino believes that his compatriot will keep his cool.
“Players are clever,” The Mirror quotes Pochettino as saying when asked if Fazio can keep his cool. “They know what they need to do.
"We need to try to change our record against Chelsea. We need to believe. We are in a different momentum to a month ago.
“We have grown and learned from that game in our organisation and mentality and physical condition.
“Every game is different, we started very well at Chelsea and we had chances in the first 20 minutes. We didn’t score and, after we conceded, we lost the game.”
Tottenham and Chelsea faced each other at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League at the start of December.
On that occasion, the Blues eased to a 3-0 win and will be favourites to emerge victorious again, but this time Spurs are expected to provide a tougher challenge.
Spurs are undefeated in their last five competitive games and are enjoying playing at home again. Perhaps a win could prove to be out of reach, but the North London outfit can certainly pick up a point today.
