Tottenham Hotspur 5-3 Chelsea: Harry Kane stars again

White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur have returned to winning ways with a 5-3 hammering of Chelsea at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Diego Costa put the Blues ahead in the 18th minute when he slotted home from close range after Eden Hazard’s effort had come back off the Spurs post.

Hosts Tottenham equalised through Harry Kane on the half-hour mark, and Danny Rose made it 2-1 on 44 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side went into the half-time interval 3-1 up after Andros Townsend slotted home the penalty conceded by Gary Cahill.

Kane stunned the travelling Chelsea fans when he scored Spurs’ fourth goal of the evening seven minutes into the second half.

Eden Hazard threatened a comeback for Chelsea on the hour mark when he pulled one back, but Nacer Chadli ended the game as a contest on 78 minutes when he made it 5-2 to the home team.

John Terry scored three minutes from full time for the Blues, but it did not matter in the end as Spurs won the match 5-3.

The win has lifted Tottenham up to fifth in the Premier League table with 34 points from 20 matches, two points behind fourth-placed Southampton and a point ahead of Arsenal, who are now sixth.
