The England capped striker can take the mick out of himself as he struggles for first-team football.
This summer Carlton Cole could have been forgiven for thinking his West Ham career was coming to an end. The Hammers snapped up Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Mauro Zarate while Andy Carroll is also back to full fitness.
But he did get some minutes today against West Brom, although he is generally being used as a bit-part player. He has played just 430 minutes of Premier League football this year, starting just four games so far.
And it seems he can see the funny side of those statistics.
Cole posted this picture on his Twitter page earlier today, inviting 'trolls' to give him some stick as he mocked himself as the potential West Ham groundsman...
Happy New Year, wishing everyone a prosperous and successful year ahead! *caption This* cmon trolls get at me. pic.twitter.com/YVHbjTYvnH— Carlton Cole (@CarltonCole1) January 1, 2015
Cole may not be a regular first-team player for West Ham at the moment but he is certainly still a fan favourite and he clearly still loves playing for the club he could have departed in the past for regular first-team football.
Plus, there is always a job waiting for him on the ground staff at West Ham should the football stop working out for him.
