Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that it is "nothing special" to face Jose Mourinho.
The Argentine boss will come up against the Portuguese today when Spurs take on Chelsea at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
Mourinho is one of the greatest managers of all time and the most successful of the 21st century, but Pochettino is not overawed by the occasion.
“He is a good friend, but it is nothing special to play against him,” The Mirror quotes the Argentine as saying. “We played a lot of times against Madrid when I was at Espanyol.”
Pochettino enjoys a good relationship with Mourinho and does not mean any disrespect, but one suspects that inside he will be determined to win today.
Mourinho is one of the best tacticians in the game, and Spurs boss Pochettino will certainly be looking to get the better of the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid coach.
North London outfit Tottenham are unbeaten in five competitive matches and held Manchester United to a goalless draw at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Pochettino believes that his players can pick up all three points against Chelsea if they play the way they did against United.
“You need time to settle your philosophy and maybe it is difficult to take time in football,” said the 42-year-old.
“We are very happy now with the players and squad and you always can improve. We need to show the same character and spirit we did against Manchester United on Sunday.”
Tottenham were not exactly great against United and had to rely on goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for the point, and the players will have to step up their game against Chelsea.
Mourinho’s team will be favourites to win today, but Spurs’ chances cannot be written off just yet.
