Adam takes a look ahead in 2015 at some of the games he is most excited about playing.
2014 is done, over, gone, and now it's time to look forward in the new year. A few days ago I looked back over 2014 and named my top 5 games of that year, as did Steve and Matt. But, now it's time to name my top 5 most anticipated games of the new year, 2015.
Looking through all the releases due in 2015, it's incredibly difficult to cut down the games I'm most excited about to just 5, but I've done it, somehow.
These games are in no particular order, and yes, they are mainly triple-A titles, but that's what I tend to play most.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The track record of the previous two Witcher games is enough for me to want the latest addition to the series, regardless of all the screenshots, information, and footage we've seen for Wild Hunt. CD Projekt RED have proven themselves to be incredibly talented developers, and the fact they have delayed the release of the game twice now, tells me that they are more than dedicated to delivering a stellar experience.
Star Wars: Battlefront
This beauty is due for release near to the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie at the end of the year. We haven't seen much at all in terms of what the game will look and play like, but I'm holding out hope for DICE's ability to create great FPS multiplayer experiences. This game will hopefully capture what was great about the original Battlefront games, but bring it forward for a new generation.
The Legend of Zelda
My Nintendo Wii U collection is lacking, and I haven't played a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time. From the limited footage we've seen of this new Wii U Zelda game, I'm intrigued to see how the series has progressed, and I'm especially eager to throw myself back into that universe. Plus the open world looks huge and bloomin' beautiful.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Due early 2015, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number was originally scheduled for release in 2014, but was delayed in order to polish up the game. I really, really enjoyed the first game - it was a surprise for me as I don't tend to play many indie titles. It's mix of twitch gameplay, brilliant 80s style soundtrack, and great story left me wanting more, hence its sequel making it onto this list.
Tom Clancy's The Division
It seems to have been a while since we last heard anything about Ubisoft's latest Tom Clancy game. The Division is promising to be an open-world shooter where players can team up online in an mmo-style environment. Gameplay footage is looking promising, and my only hope is that it lives up to the hype, as some of Ubisoft's game releases in 2014 haven't had the greatest of reception.
And there you have it, 5 games I'm most looking forward to getting my hands on this year. Other titles that almost made it onto this list include No Man's Sky, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. But, to be completely honest, if it's a new game, and it's being released in 2015, I want to play it!
