The prolific Italian international has missed the entire season so far with a knee injury, but is tipped to return in early 2015.
The club have now released an official update on his condition, and it has a positive impact for Tottenham.
Paolo Manetti, team doctor, told ViolaChannel: "Mid-January, Rossi will start his specific work on the pitch. Then a further check in mid-February while recovering, playing is set for the beginning of March. We will see the real Giuseppe Rossi for the beginning of March."
Rossi scored an impressive 17 goals in 24 games last season, but has been dogged by serious knee troubles through his career.
An early February return could have placed Rossi in with a chance of playing some role for the clashes with Spurs in the Europa League, but with these taking place on February 19 and 26, his early March return is simply too soon.
