Rangers supporters have been outraged by the club's decision to sell Lewis Macleod to Brentford for such a cheap price.
Macleod has been one of the major bright spots in a disappointing season for the Light Blues so far, but they will now have to cope without the 20-year-old winger.
Rangers are already 15 points away from the top of the Scottish Championship and this decision has caused further unrest at Ibrox.
It is a signal of the Championship side's ambition, but it also shows just how far Rangers have fallen in recent times.
The eight-goal midfielder has already accumulated 52 appearances during his time with the Scottish giants and earned his first international call-up earlier this year, showing how much potential he has.
Macleod is regarded as one of the finest talents to have come out of Scotland for some time and for Rangers to lose him so early in his career, especially to a Championship side, would have been unthinkable only a few years ago.
The lack of ambition around the club has caused great frustration to the sizeable 'Gers fan-base and they have reacted angrily on social media site Twitter to this latest transfer move.
Lewis Macleod will be a huge loss. Great talent on the pitch, a model pro off it. Had the pleasure of meeting him in Toronto. He'll go far.— Aldohoho (@_aldo93) December 31, 2014
Lewis Macleod joins Brentford from Rangers. Six years back B'Ford were 14th in L2 and Rangers were in the UEFA Cup Final.— Kristan Heneage (@KHeneage) December 31, 2014
Lewis MacLeod away to Brentford. Worst possible thing that could have happened to Rangers' first team.— Ryan Rowe (@_ryanrowe) December 31, 2014
Completley devistated and heartbroken that Macleod has left Rangers he was about the only good thing at Ibrox atm ffs— Marie (@Marie__82) December 31, 2014
As a Rangers fan I'd like to hope that the money we get for MacLeod sale will go towards backroom/coaching staff, but that's just fantasty.— Shaun Lithgow (@ATallDrummer) December 31, 2014
MacLeod sold for buttons. But don't worry, people keep saying that Ashley will rebuild Rangers back to the Champions League. Pathetic.— Iain Anderson (@Iain_C_Anderson) December 31, 2014
So Rangers have sold Lewis Macleod. Imagine selling your best player to pay the wages of duds like Mohsni, Black, McCulloch and Boyd...— Jamie Hope (@JamieHope_) December 31, 2014
Absolutely Disgusted at Rangers for selling Lewis MacLeod for only £1M. Tossed our future down the pan. But hey, it covers Somers wages.— Alastair paton (@A77Y1690) December 31, 2014
