Rangers supporters have been outraged by the club's decision to sell Lewis Macleod to Brentford for such a cheap price.

Macleod has been one of the major bright spots in a disappointing season for the Light Blues so far, but they will now have to cope without the 20-year-old winger.

Rangers are already 15 points away from the top of the Scottish Championship and this decision has caused further unrest at Ibrox.

Macleod signed a three-and-a-half year contract at Brentford today, joining the Bees in a deal which is reportedly worth £1 million over staggered instalments.

It is a signal of the Championship side's ambition, but it also shows just how far Rangers have fallen in recent times.

The eight-goal midfielder has already accumulated 52 appearances during his time with the Scottish giants and earned his first international call-up earlier this year, showing how much potential he has.

Macleod is regarded as one of the finest talents to have come out of Scotland for some time and for Rangers to lose him so early in his career, especially to a Championship side, would have been unthinkable only a few years ago.

The lack of ambition around the club has caused great frustration to the sizeable 'Gers fan-base and they have reacted angrily on social media site Twitter to this latest transfer move.
