PHOTOS: Manchester United’s worst moments of 2014

19 Old Trafford

With 2015 almost upon us, we take a look at the worst moments of Manchester United in 2014.

Old Trafford hammering by Liverpool (March 16, 2014)

Manchester United were going through a rough period at the time, and it was made worse by Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard scored twice and Luis Suarez added one as the Merseyside outfit eased past the Red Devils 3-0 in the Premier League.

The fact that the match was played at Old Trafford means that the defeat was nothing short of a humiliation.

Champions League hopes dashed

United’s hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League last season evaporated when they went down 2-0 to Everton at Goodison Park on April 20.

The Toffees did the double over the Manchester outfit for the first time since 1969, and two days later Moyes was sacked as the United manager.

Keeping Anderson

Anderson has been on the books of United since 2007, and many fans still wonder why.

The 26-year-old showed promise when he was young(er), but in recent years he has done nothing to suggest that he deserves to play for England’s biggest club.

Many would have thought that United would offload him in the summer, but him being part of Louis van Gaal’s squad is one of the biggest surprises of the season.

Losing 4-0 to MK Dons (August 26, 2014)

Cup upsets are not uncommon, but getting hammered 4-0 by Milton Keynes Dons in the League Cup was probably the worst moment of United in 2014.

Karl Robinson’s side dominated the second-round tie and eased to win at Stadium mk in front of 26,969 spectators, piling up more misery on manager Van Gaal.

Spectacular collapse at Leicester City (September 21, 2014)

United seemed to have wrapped up the three points at the King Power Stadium when they went 3-1 up by the hour mark.

But Leicester City staged one of the comebacks of the season anywhere in Europe and stunned United by winning the Premier League encounter 5-3.

United’s collapse in the final 30 minutes aided by the dismissal of Tyler Blackett will go down in history as one of their worst.
