Arsenal are looking to leapfrog Southampton when the two sides clash on New Year's Day.
Arsenal will be hoping to make it three league wins in a row when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Thursday.
The Gunners defeated Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United over the festive period and now take on a Saints side just one place above them in the table.
Ronald Koeman’s side is currently fourth on 33 points while Arsenal are below them only on goal difference, and Arsene Wenger’s men trained on Wednesday in preparation for what is sure to be a tough match.
Wenger watched proceedings as the likes of Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny were put through their paces, with the Frenchman wrapping up particularly tight to keep the cold weather at bay.
An Arsenal win will see them climb back into the Champions League places and possibly even level with third-placed Manchester United depending on how Louis van Gaal’s side do earlier in the day against Stoke City.
