Everton defender John Stones has been speaking ahead of the Toffees’ vital match against Hull City on New Year’s Day.
The young centre-back missed the match against Newcastle United last weekend but he is hopeful of returning to action as Everton look to turn their poor form around early in 2015.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Stones said, “My ankle is good. I did get a bit of a knock on it the other day which has aggravated it slightly.
“Hopefully it won’t be too long and I will be back in the team.”
Everton have seen themselves slip to 12th place in the Premier League having lost their last three matches, but Stones believes they can get back to winning ways if they focus on the right things.
“We have to make sure we are defensively solid and play our game,” he added.
But Hull have intentions of their own, with manager Steve Bruce recently vowing he will remain at the club and fight for their Premier League survival despite reports linking him with the Newcastle manager’s job.
