With 2015 almost upon us, we take a look at the best moments of Newcastle United in 2014.
Sticking with Alan Pardew
Alan Pardew’s job at Newcastle United has been under scrutiny since last season, with a majority of the fans clearly against him.
The Magpies were truly disappointing in the second half of the 2013-14 campaign and struggled for results in the opening weeks of this season, but club owner Mike Ashley stuck with Pardew.
Pardew is not very popular among the Newcastle supporters, but under him the team do look safe in mid-table.
Manchester City setback (October 29, 2014)
Newcastle stunned Manchester City in the fourth round of the League Cup when they won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko scored the goals for the Magpies, who went down 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the quarter-finals earlier this month.
Defeating Chelsea (December 6, 2014)
Newcastle were expected to give Chelsea a run for their money, but not many would have predicted them to defeat them.
The Magpies got the better of the Blues 2-1 at St. James’ Park earlier this month to inflict on Jose Mourinho’s side their first defeat of the Premier League this season.
Newcastle actually ended the game with 10 men, and they deservedly picked up the three points.
