Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Nacer Chadli is looking for his teammates to follow Newcastle United's example when they face Chelsea.
Newcastle beat Chelsea 2-1 earlier in the month, inflicting their only defeat to date this season, and Chadli believes that the Magpies' success against the Blues should provide his side with all the confidence needed to pull off an upset.
“No games are easy but Newcastle beat Chelsea so why can’t we beat them?” Chadli said to the club's official site. “We have to play our game and we’ll see how we go.”
Chelsea have been the Premier League's stand-out side so far this season and have raced into top spot, but they have shown chinks in their armour on their travels more recently.
The Blues have won only once in their last four away games and Spurs will be hoping to cause them further woes on their travels on New Year's Day.
Tottenham have been much improved in recent weeks, but this is surely their toughest test at White Hart Lane so far this campaign and their fans head into the game with trepidation.
Spurs have already seen the dangers of Chelsea's attack first hand, after losing 3-0 to them at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, and only a far greater level of performance will see a different outcome on Thursday.
