Michael Owen believes that Thursday’s Premier League clash between Stoke City and Manchester United at the Britannia Stadium will end in a draw.
“United have won 11 and lost only one of the 13 Barclays PL games between the two sides but the Britannia is never an easy place to go to and I think they may have to settle for a point.”
Owen’s prediction of the match does sound a bit strange, especially considering the fact that his former club United are in brilliant form at the moment.
True, Louis van Gaal’s side failed to win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but it was only goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who stopped them from claiming the three points at White Hart Lane.
Stoke are strong at home and the Britannia is not an easy place for visiting sides, but with the players Van Gaal has at his disposal, one would expect United to win.
The Potters have won their last two league matches and will fancy at least a draw, but the quality of United means that they should be considered favourites to win.
If United score the first goal, then they should emerge victorious with ease.
