Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback is not exactly fondly remembered at the Stadium of Light, but he is doing little to improve the ill-feeling towards him from Sunderland fans.
Colback left the Wearsiders to join Newcastle this summer on a free transfer in a controversial deal, which created uproar at Sunderland.
Since moving to Newcastle he has been one of the Magpies star players, reminding Sunderland of the quality that the lost with his departure, and his comments earlier today are sure to annoy the Black Cats fan-base even more.
Colback says that he simply loves playing football for Newcastle, whereas when he was at Sunderland it was purely a job for him.
“I love playing for this team," he said to the Chronicle.
“It’s a great honour and I’ve said that before. In the past playing for Sunderland was a job. But here I have a real passion to play and want to do well."
Sunderland were able to enjoy a joke at Colback's expense after they beat Newcastle 1-0 in the North East derby recently, but the flame-haired midfielder seems entirely satisfied with his move.
His new club are looking down on their rivals, who are currently four places behind them in the Premier League table, and they will be determined to stay ahead of them for the rest of the campaign.
