Liverpool morning news, Reds in Berahino pursuit, reflections on Swansea win

Anfield Night

A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.

Liverpool climbed above Swansea City into eighth place in the Premier League last night, and are now five points off the top four after a 4-1 win over the Swans at Anfield last night.

A brace from Adam Lallana with Alberto Moreno and Jonjo Shelvey putting through his own net either side of that as the Reds looked more like their old selves.

Rodgers heaped praise on his £25 million signing from Southampton for his performance, telling reporters after the game: “I'm very pleased with Adam. He is a wonderfully gifted player, and it was a big move for him to come from Southampton where he was captain.

“It's difficult to come to a club this size for all the new players as you don't know about the expectancy until you come here.

“They are now starting adapting to that, to what we are doing here and where we want to go."

The game was not without a spot of controversy as Raheem Sterling and Shelvey could be subject to retrospective action after slapping and elbow incidents respectively.

Away from last night's win, the Daily Mail are reporting that Liverpool are looking to hijack Tottenham's move for Saido Berahino.

The Reds have been linked with another striker all season, with Berahino's name featuring prominently as the Reds struggled for goals.

West Brom reportedly have a £25 million price tag on the forward, a valuation Liverpool would be unwilling to match.
