Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has been speaking following his appearance in the Gunners’ 2-1 win against West Ham United on Sunday.
The 23-year-old was recalled from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic to cover for a number of injured players at the Emirates Stadium, and manager Arsene Wenger’s decision was justified when he played against the Hammers.
Coquelin was picked to counter the aerial threat of West Ham’s Andy Carroll and the Arsenal man did well before fatigue set in.
In quotes published by the Daily Express after the match, Coquelin said, “It’s been a long time for me without (starting) in the Premier League, but I think the loan at Charlton was very good for me and helped me a lot.
“I got a lot of games under my belt and I’d like to thank Charlton for that.”
The Frenchman played five matches at The Valley before his time there was cut short, but it is nice to hear him thank the side that allowed him to return to Arsenal fit and ready to perform for his parent-club when they needed him the most.
