Spurs morning news: Pochettino hails ‘one of the world’s best’; loanee speaks

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Milos Veljkovic is hopeful of remaining at loan club Middlesbrough for some time yet, despite featuring sparingly to date.

The 19-year-old centre-back made his full debut for the Championship side in their draw against Blackburn Rovers, adding to the 57 minutes he had accrued previously; but in quotes published by the Gazette Live Veljkovic revealed his hopes for 2015.

“I hope I can stay longer,” he said. “I didn’t speak with the gaffer yet but I hope we can talk soon.

“I had to wait two months to start a game but I have trained hard and had to wait for my opportunity.”

In other news, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino praised goalkeeper Hugo Lloris following the Frenchman’s fine performance against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Spurs stopper helped his side to a 0-0 draw, foiling United’s front-line time and again, and in comments published by the London Evening Standard Pochettino said, “I think it’s a fair result.

“Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. It’s not new from me. We know the quality of Hugo.”

Tottenham will now be hoping to maintain to their impressive festive form heading into 2015.
