Tottenham centre back Federico Fazio wants to see more stubborn defending after holding Manchester United to a 0-0 draw.
Tottenham may have struggled to find a consistent centre back pairing for the majority of the season, but now, manager Mauricio Pochettino appears to have settled on a solid duo.
Recent games have seen the towering Federico Fazio partner the elegant Jan Vertonghen in the heart of the Tottenham defence, and their performances of late suggest that it's the ideal pairing.
On Sunday, Tottenham managed to hold Manchester United to a 0-0 draw, and whilst the display from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was a large factor in that, Fazio and Vertonghen did fare well again.
Now, Fazio says he wants to see more stubborn defensive displays from Spurs in the coming weeks as they look to build on that clean sheet against the Red Devils.
"It was our second game in two days but we finished strongly in the second half," said Fazio. "We kept our line high, pressed more and tried to score the one goal to take the three points."
"We fought all the way and we have to keep this intensity, keep this belief and stay compact like this. This attitude is important," the Argentine added.
Fazio, 27, arrived from Sevilla in a £10m deal this summer, and whilst it took him some time to break into the Tottenham line-up, he's now looking assured in the Premier League, and offers a huge defensive presence for Pochettino's side.
