Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has been speaking following the club’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
Davies was part of a Spurs defence who weathered quite a storm in the first half, with United’s front-four causing plenty of problems for the hosts.
Hugo Lloris was exceptional throughout – and was rightly crowned man-of-the-match – but Tottenham’s back-four also played their part to ensure they earned another point to add to the three they claimed on Boxing Day.
In an interview with Tottenham’s official website after the match, Davies said, “From a defensive point of view it’s a clean sheet and one that we’re happy with as a back-four.
“Both sides had chances and on another day we could have won the game and picked up all three points.”
In the final 20 minutes Spurs certainly had the better of things and could have sneaked a win that would have emphatically proved they are over their struggles earlier in the campaign.
As it was, the points were shared but Tottenham can take great pride in their efforts, with Davies proving what a stable and consistent defence is capable of.
