Leeds United fans react on Twitter as ex-star Matt Smith scores again

Fulham loanee Matt Smith scored again for Bristol City in a win over Gillingham.

Matt Smith has had a miserable start to the 2014/15 season, but it is beginning to look up for him.

He was sold by Leeds United with just three Championship games gone, with his final contribution a goal in the humiliating League Cup defeat to Bristol City.

His move to Fulham did not pan out, sent off on his debut and overlooked for first team starts, so much so that he was sent out on loan to Bristol City in League One in late November.

After a slow start, Smith is finally on the scoresheet again - having netted his first goal in months in the 2-1 Boxing Day win over Yeovil Town.

On Sunday he was at it again, scoring twice in a 3-1 win at Gillingham, and took to Twitter after the win to hail his side's second successive victory.

Smith's goalscoring feats have several fans of his old club wishing he would return, so they expressed on social media after his performance on Sunday.

Leeds supporters took to Twitter to praise the striker's good fortune, with others questioning why the Yorkshire club even let him go.

Smith was never a truly prolific goalscorer, but he was consistent in terms of effort and did chip in his fair share, arguably an upgrade on the out of favour Steve Morison.

Pleas for his return probably is more of a reflection on Leeds' current situation in 20th in the Championship, needing to turnaround a run of games with one draw and three losses in their last four.
