Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has praised the squad depth that the club have at their disposal this season.
The Magpies were fairly active in the summer, bringing a number of fresh faces to St. James' Park and Coloccini has clearly been impressed by the new arrivals.
Although not all of the deals have worked out to date, the Argentine defender still feels that they have increased competition in the squad and he has no doubts over the quality of Emmanuel Riviere and Remy Cabella.
“Now we have a bigger squad," Coloccini said to the Chronicle.
“We have great players on the bench as well. We have Manu Riviere. We have Remy Cabella too. They are a few good players to come in.”
Riviere and Cabella have been two of Newcastle's biggest disappointments to date, with neither finding the form that they expected, but Coloccini has obviously seen enough in training to suggest that they can both succeed.
If they are able to hit form soon it will be a major boost for Newcastle, who have netted just 22 goals in their first 19 Premier League matches, making them the joint lowest scorers in the top half of the table.
Their troubles in front of goal, despite scoring three times against Everton in their most recent match, have stopped them from putting together a serious European push, but a slight improvement in this area is likely to elevate them up the table.
Newcastle are currently in ninth position, but they will be aiming to close the five point gap to the top six in the coming weeks.
