Aston Villa remain the lowest scorers in the Premier League by some distance.
Paul Lambert’s side have, at the halfway stage of the season, found the target just 11 times in 19 fixtures.
In some ways they have done well to collect five wins and 21 points, but they have gone four games without success at present.
The January transfer window will provide an opportunity to bolster the ranks, with attacking talent expected to be a top priority.
Werder Bremen winger Zlatko Junuzovic is reported to be among those under consideration, and the Austria international has opened the door to a New Year switch.
He told BILD: “There are a few options. I want to listen to them. The starting position is very advantageous to me. Let’s see what happens.
“I would not be surprised if things happened quickly. Anything is possible in football. I don’t know if Werder are planning to the end of the season with me.”
Junuzovic is a diminutive playmaker blessed with eye-catching technical ability.
He has spent the last two years in the Bundesliga and having proved himself at that level should have no problem adjusting to the demands of the Premier League.
It could be that he is an ideal acquisition for Villa as added creativity on the flanks would help to bring more out of talismanic frontman Christian Benteke – with the Belgian striker in need of better service.
