57% Passing Accuracy, but Tottenham star Ryan Mason makes up for it with best home ball-winning display of the season

Tottenham WHL

Ryan Mason produced a mixed display as Tottenham Hotspur drew with Manchester United.

Two points dropped at home felt like one gained for Tottenham against a Manchester United side who threatened to break them down in the first half.

Spurs were resilient with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris particularly effective, and could even have won the game late on had Ryan Mason not squandered a late opportunity when put through by Harry Kane.

Mason had a mixed performance, not only missing the late chance, but also completing only 57 per cent of his passes, his worst return of the season so far since coming into the side.

This however masked his effectiveness in terms of applying pressure on the Manchester United midfield, especially in the second half.

He won the ball back six times, more occasions than he has done in any game at White Hart Lane this season, with Spurs pushed onto the defensive by an attack-minded Manchester United team.

His work rate and refusal to shy away from getting involved even when his own game was not going ideally should be commended, amid a return to the side after a short-term ankle injury.
