A look at the late breaking transfer stories heading into December 29th...
Arsenal want Reid but could lose Podolski
Both of these transfer rumours have been circulating over the past month, but each appear to be picking up steam with the transfer window days away.
The Mail report Arsenal are to bid £4 million for West Ham defender Winston Reid, an offer which appears destined to be rejected. Earlier this month Hammers boss Sam Allardyce suggested they would want five times that amount, but with the defender out of contract at the end of the season, Arsenal fancy their chances of luring him to The Emirates, with the paper stating they are 'confident' West Ham will sell.
The Telegraph report Inter Milan believe they have 'clinched' an agreement to sign Lukas Podolski on loan in January. A deal will go through after the New Year's Day game against Southampton the paper report, with the Italian side ready to pay a £1.5 million loan fee.
Bolton want Kris Commons
Bolton are the latest side linked with signing Celtic's Kris Commons, after Leicester City were touted as a destination earlier this month. The attacker is in dispute with Celtic at present with his contract up at the end of the season and is upset with the one-year contract on offer.
The Mirror report that his former manager Neil Lennon is preparing a two-year deal to bring him to the Reebok, and will be free to negotiate a deal with him for next summer from January 1.
QPR eye Yakubu
QPR are considering an expensive alternative to Toronto forward Jermain Defoe. The Mirror report they want to sign former Blackburn Rovers striker Yakubu, who has recently been playing in Qatar for Al Rayyan. Prior to that he was playing in China where he was earning more than £5 million a year.
The Nigerian forward, 32, is reportedly in England as a guest of the club and while a transfer fee could be minimal, it is his wage demands which are likely to place him among the highest earners at the club if he signs.
