The German international is struggling for minutes and form at the moment.
An early goal from Sadio Mane had Chelsea trailing, before a strike from the excellent Eden Hazard levelled things at the break. Despite some late pressing Chelsea could not find a goal and they dropped two points. The only positive to take from the day was an obvious one, as Manchester City threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Burnley at The Etihad.
For Chelsea fans however it was not a good enough result or performance and one player who came in for significant criticism was German world cup winner Andre Schurrle.
He started the game on the right-hand side and should have had a field day with youngster Matt Targett his opposition. But he was poor going forward and offered very minimal threat.
Going backward he was even worse. Unwilling and ineffective, at times he even appears afraid of the ball and shirks responsibility, which is certainly not a natural part of his playing style.
The Chelsea fans were mixed in their belief of his performance. Many were simply disappointed, others sympathise with his lack of first-team action.
One universal claim however, none were impressed...
Schurrle not awful, but far from influential. You've got to wonder whether he's running out of chances for poor performances. #CFC— Dan (@DanTheCFCfan) December 28, 2014
Schurrle had an awful first half, bring on willian— Daaaan (@dangrace97) December 28, 2014
schurrle not doing much to earn his starting place here. Seems to be either brilliant or awful, usually the latter— ByTheMin Chelsea (@ByTheMinChelsea) December 28, 2014
Schurrle cost us this game tbh. No one should ask after him next time he doesn't start. Rubbish— Chichom (@ChisomBullet) December 28, 2014
Schurrle must get an earful. What rubbish— Labisi (@Sohlano) December 28, 2014
Schurrle is struggling ffs— Enfo (@enfoahmed) December 28, 2014
Andre Schurrle, what a disappointing game, get back to form soon or you might as well build a house on the bench and move in.— Barnabas V (@CarterBee95) December 28, 2014
luis & Schurrle are in the same boat imo. They need a run of games to be on top form. We shouldn't be slating them...— Chelsea AF! (@oscraque8) December 28, 2014
Schurrle needs a run of games, not just one. You cant establish form in one game.— top of the league (@laelda_95) December 28, 2014
