With the January transfer window approaching Premier League teams will be assessing just how they can improve their squads for the upcoming second half of the season.
For Liverpool then, who is the player they need to arrive in January?
The player they need is Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The French international captain once again proved his rightful place among the top goalkeepers in world football yesterday with a match winning performance against Leicester City for Tottenham.
It came on the same day that Liverpool had to replace Brad Jones with Simon Mignolet, who looked very erratic when he ventured onto the field, becoming the but of many a joke on Twitter in the process.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a goalkeeper and it has to be a world-class operator if they are to challenge for the titles that Brendan Rodgers wants his team to achieve.
Lloris also has plenty of Premier League experience and Simon Mignolet could be shifted in the opposite direction as part of any deal.
It is of course an unlikely deal. He would cost upward of £20 million and Tottenham would be reluctant to sell him to a league rival, as well as the new five-year deal he signed in July.
Lloris is the perfect option to play in goal for Liverpool, unfortunately it does not look like it is a viable or likely option.
Another goalkeeper will just have to do.
