Sturridge, Carragher & Markovic react on Twitter to Liverpool win

The Reds beat Burnley 1-0 on Boxing Day thanks to a second-half winner from 20-year-old Raheem Sterling.

Injured Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and £20 million forward Lazar Markovic led the celebrations on Twitter after Liverpool's 1-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day.

Former defender Jamie Carragher also tweeted about the victory, praising Raheem Sterling and Emre Can in particular.

Boss Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, believes his side deserved the three points.

"In terms of our character and resilience in the game, we showed outstanding qualities when needed," the Liverpool manager told reporters after the Burnley win.

"It was difficult in terms of the fluidity in the game; they pressed really hard and made it difficult for us, in particular in the first half. But I felt we were better in the second half.

"There weren't many chances in the game at all, but the one clear one that came to us we put away. We deserved the three points.”
