Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has predicted both Southampton and Chelsea to score.
Chelsea will head into the clash as favourites, but Owen expects Ronald Koeman’s side to give the London outfit a run for their money.
“Saints appear to have come through their lean period with back-to-back wins against Everton and Crystal Palace and have scored six goals in the process,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“My admiration for Chelsea remains undiminished but I think the hosts will give the PL leaders plenty to think about.
“Graziano Pelle has scored seven goals in his last eight matches at St Mary’s and I expect both sides to find the back of the net.”
Chelsea and Southampton have the two best defences in the Premier League, with the former having conceded 13 goals in 18 matches and the latter 14.
Defeating the Saints at St. Mary’s will not be easy for Chelsea, but the fact stands that Koeman’s side have failed against the top teams in recent weeks.
Arsenal beat Southampton at the Emirates Stadium at the start of December, before Manchester United picked up all three points at St. Mary’s the following week.
Last month Manchester City hammered Southampton 3-0, and league leaders Chelsea could do the same on Sunday.
