The Gunners will head into the Premier League clash at the Boleyn Ground on the back of a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Boxing Day.
The success over QPR saw Arsenal return to winning ways in the league, but Owen expects Arsene Wenger’s side to struggle against London rivals West Ham.
“The Hammers have lost their last seven on the run against the Gunners but I expect them to buck that recent trend,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com. “The Irons have led in their last four PL games against Arsenal but have lost each one.
“Alexis Sanchez was brilliant against QPR on Boxing Day and may have to be at his very best again at the Boleyn Ground if the Gunners’ are to get anything from the game.”
Arsenal will head into the game as favourites, but given West Ham’s performances so far this season, the Gunners will not find it easy at all.
However, the visiting team do have better players, and in Alexis Sanchez they have arguably the best player in the Premier League on current form.
The 26-year-old Chile international forward has scored 10 goals and created 48 chances in 17 Premier League appearances so far this season, whole having a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 67%.
Sanchez has been a consistent performer for Arsenal, who will once again be looking to him for inspiration if things start to go wrong against West Ham.
