Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is adamant that the club will not be moving into the transfer market this winter. however that has not stopped the rumour mill churning, with plenty of Borussia Dortmund players continually linked with a move.
Today a resident German football expert, Jan Age Fjortoft, has been musing on the topic of Borussia Dortmund. The German giants are having a torrid season and went into the winter break in the Bundesliga relegation zone.
That means the likes of Mats Hummels and Marco Reus are continually being linked with moves away from Borussia Dortmund more than ever.
Manchester United are one such team said to be keen on his signature and the former Swindon and Barnsley striker believes Louis van Gaal would love to sign the pair.
IF...Dortmund sell Reus and Hunmels in the summer, Klopp must ask himself: - Am I motivated to build a new team again. I doubt it...— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 27, 2014
Can't see Dortmund selling any stars this window. But in the summer..... Could be "SALE" in ever window.— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 27, 2014
Re: Hummels Bayern got Boateng, Badstuber, Martinez and Dante. So: Most likely to go abroad— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 27, 2014
Manchester United don't buy Germans... Moyes very close if given another window. Van Gaal would love to "go German" #MUFC— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 27, 2014
In the past German players have not been a well-known go to for Manchester United, but as Fjortoft rightly points out David Moyes was adamant on signing Toni Kroos and would perhaps have got him if he stayed on for the summer.
But with Van Gaal's history in the German market and leagues there is no wonder that Fjortoft deduces that the Dortmund pair could soon end at Manchester United.
