Manchester United’s hopes of luring their former hero back to Old Trafford are not likely to happen according to Jorge Mendes.
The Portugal international is the current Ballon d’Or holder and has been a critical part of the side’s recent success under Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite his achievements in La Liga, Manchester United fans have always harboured an ambition to bring the tricky attacker back to Old Trafford before he retires.
However, if Mendes is to be believed, Ronaldo is unlikely to return to England and will instead finish his playing days at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I believe that Cristiano will finish his career at Real Madrid," Mendes told Globoesporte.
"He's happy at the club and is still keen to achieve more success in Madrid.”
Mendes went on to say that he believes that Ronaldo is the current best player in the world and would eclipse Madrid legends Alfredo Di Stafano and Raul.
"I respect great players like Raul and [Alfredo] Di Stefano, but none of them compare to Cristiano Ronaldo," he continued.
”Cristiano is the greatest ever. It will be impossible for anyone to emulate him in the future. There's just such a gulf between him and second best.
"Cristiano Ronaldo kicked off Real Madrid's transformation. Five or six years ago, the team were not as good as they are now. They weren't Barcelona, whom everybody considered the greatest team ever.”
Ronaldo was part of the Real Madrid side that claimed La Decima last season and has netted a staggering 25 La Liga goals in 14 matches this season.
He will be up against arch enemy Lionel Messi and World Cup winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the race to claim the 2014 Ballon d’Or.
