Tottenham Hotspur are making a habit out of slender wins away from White Hart Lane and the 2-1 win against Leicester City was no different.
Spurs got off to a great start thanks to another goal from in form striker Harry Kane before Christian Eriksen scored a clever free kick with the scores level late on.
However, it was Tottenham’s goalkeeper who was the star of the show, as Hugo Lloris made a number of good saves in a match which could easily have gone in favour of the Premier League strugglers.
Lloris is a world class operator, one of the few in Tottenham’s first choice side, and he seems to ooze confidence in situations where his defence are sometimes guilty of leaving him overexposed.
His quality is very obvious and he read various situations against Leicester well to get into positive positions which made his life a bit easier in terms of dealing with things.
There have been rumours circulating that the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid have been eyeing Lloris this season and with displays like this, it’s easy to see why.
However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino remains unconcerned over his future, with the man himself also commenting that he’s firmly fixed on succeeding and achieving the club’s main goals in North London.
If Tottenham are to get into the Champions League next season, they’ll have to either win the Europa League or break into the Premier League’s top four and Lloris will be key if they’re to achieve that.
Here’s what Tottenham fans on Twitter made of Lloris’ performance.
We are starting to become a one man team again, #Lloris. A win is a win but we are poison to watch at the moment. No shape.— Martin Hurl (@Hazard39) December 26, 2014
