GloboSport claims there’s a family reason behind Paulinho’s reported move back to Corinthians.
GS claims it’s a matter of time before the Tottenham midfielder heads back to his homeland of Brazil, which will provide his pregnant wife with the opportunity to give birth closer to friends and family.
Paulinho has struggled to get much game time under Mauricio Pochettino this season, with Spurs reportedly wanting to make back a good portion of the £17 million the club paid for him to sign him from the Brazilian club in the first place.
Naturally, Corinthians are thought to be pushing for a loan move, as they may struggle to pay a hefty fee for the midfielder, with Spurs seemingly keen to free up some space in their squad for a January arrival.
Reports this morning have suggested that Tottenham have reached an advanced stage over talks to sign Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain and Paulinho’s exit makes Rabiot’s arrival even more likely.
Whether his wide was pregnant or not, it seems Paulinho was always a Tottenham player who was going to make way as part of some January reshuffling by Spurs.
