On this day: Ramsey injury woes and Lamela's apparent Italy return

On Boxing Day 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the Boxing Day 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the Boxing Day 2013…

Ramsey struggles

Last season was a break-out term for Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman scored goals galore at the start of the Arsenal season, with performances seeing him win Player of the Month on several occasions for the Arsenal team.

But it was a year ago that his season was severely disrupted. He picked up an injury in the Boxing Day fixture against West Ham, tearing his thigh muscle and going on to miss a large portion of the second half of the season.

In the end it took him a long time to rediscover his best form, but a recent Galatasaray performance looked like him being back to top form. However he also got injured in that game and is out of action once again.

The story of his career.

Lamela on his way

It was being reported that Tottenham Hotspur's £30 million man Erik Lamela was being lined up for a return to Italy with Inter Milan.

He had arrived at the club from Roma as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale, who had joined Real Madrid as the most expensive player in football.

But Lamela struggled, with AVB since admitting he did not even want the Argentine.

In the end he was practically given the second half of the season off by Tim Sherwood and is still at Spurs, showing minor improvements under countryman Mauricio Pochettino.
