The Argentine winger looks set for a period out of the game with a hip problem.
But before the game United were once again struck with an injury problem, to their most expensive player Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine, who cost £59.7 million from Real Madrid this summer, has recently returned to action after a hamstring problem but before the game it was announced he had got injured in training.
After the game Louis van Gaal offered a little more elaboration on the problem, although was not much clearer.
It appears to be a hip injury, as reported by Daniel Taylor of the Guardian, it seems to be an odd one for the Argentine winger:
Van Gaal offering his diagnosis of Di Maria injury - "his pelvis not in right relationship with his leg" and "a little bit amazing"— Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) December 26, 2014
Of course United will be hoping this 'amazing' injury is not as serious as it sounds, because it sounds like quite a painful problem for Manchester United's club record signing.
