Martin Montoya looks certain to leave Barcelona in the January transfer window, but Juventus rather than Liverpool looks like his most likely destination.
It has been a very frustrating time for the highly-rated 23-year-old, who has been left warming the bench at the Camp Nou once again this campaign.
The right-back developed in Barcelona's academy system but he seems ready to walk away to try and find a club where he would be able to command a starting place.
Liverpool have watched Montoya on several occasions and could mount a January bid, but it seems that Juventus are further down the line with him.
While it would require around £15 million to activate Montoya's release clause, the player wants to leave and Barcelona would be expected to accept much less.
Over the last few weeks injuries have given Montoya a chance to play some minutes for Barca, but Di Marzio believes that his mind is made up and he will leave the Catalan club.
If Liverpool are serious about signing Montoya then they may need to make a move sooner rather than later.
