Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits there are still question marks over Angel Di Maria and his best position in the team's starting XI.
The Argentine ace traded Real Madrid for the Red Devils for a club record £59.7 million fee. He arrived at Manchester United off the back of a wonderful season in the Spanish capital, as he won two major trophies and topped the La Liga charts with a whopping 17 assists.
With pace to burn, sublime ball control and an excellent end product, Di Maria has been long thought of as the perfect player for Manchester United's attacking philosophy.
Van Gaal, however, has been forced to shuffle his squad around this season due to a succession of injuries, and Di Maria’s ideal position in the team remains the subject of some debate.
'We still have to find that out (Di Maria’s best position). It is also (about) the composition of the team - we have to look for the best team also because all of the players were injured so I could not select the team that I want', the Dutchman told the club’s official website.
The former Benfica winger has also faced injuries this season and has been restricted to just 11 Premier League stars, but scoring three times and adding a further six assists.
Di Maria played the last 29 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last weekend and will be expected to start in the Boxing Day encounter with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
