Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Lineker purrs over Kane, Hodgson considers call-up

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has backed striker Harry Kane to excel with the club and for England.

Kane has been Tottenham’s best striker so far this season across all competitions.

“He could go on to become a great goalscorer for Tottenham and possibly England as well,” Lineker told the Evening Standard.

England boss Roy Hodgson has dropped a hint that Kane could be close to being called up to the senior side.

Kane has been a regular for the England under-21s alongside Saido Berahino, who has already been part of his first senior squad.

“Like Saido, if Harry Kane continues to do well, it won't be long before he is knocking on the door for a senior call-up,” said Hodgson.

Mauricio Pochettino says new signing DeAndre Yedlin has the potential to succeed at the club.

The American full-back was confirmed on a long term deal yesterday, moving from Seattle in the MLS.

“DeAndre is a young player with great potential who has already achieved a lot in Major League Soccer,” said the boss.
