The last time Nemanja Matic was on for a quadruple he ended up winning nothing with Benfica

The Chelsea midfielder today spoke of Chelsea's chances of winning four prestigious crowns this season.

"I think it's possible. We have a chance."

Those were the words of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic today, speaking about a potential quadruple with Chelsea this season.

The Blues have been in great form this season and are top of the Premier League and still in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

So there is no doubt that Chelsea are certainly in with a shout of the unthinkable foursome.

But a word of warning for Chelsea fans, this is not the first time Nemanja Matic has made such a bold claim.

Back in 2013, before he returned to Chelsea in a £21 million move, he was with Benfica and they were on the brink of something incredible.

They had made the League Cup semi-finals, Portuguese Cup final, Europa League final and held a good lead over FC Porto in Primeira Liga - they felt that all four were there's for the taking. Matic was part of that group who were confident of success.

What happened next was the greatest capitulation in Portuguese football history.

They were dumped out of the League Cup by Braga on penalties. They then went on to lose the Portuguese Cup final to Vitoria de Guimares, the League title to Porto on the final day of the season and then the Europa League final to, of course, Chelsea all within a fortnight.

So beware Matic's belief in a quadruple, as in the past it has proved a red herring.
