Pochettino comments prove he is living up to his reputation at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur players are going to be made to work even harder in the new year.

Mauricio Pochettino's intense training methods have already earned much acclaim at Tottenham Hotspur, but it seems that he is not totally satisfied by the squad's condition.

Spurs have gained a reputation as the fittest side in the Premier League, after a series of late goals this season have helped them climb the table.

However Pochettino, who is a famously tough taskmaster, says that things will not be getting any easier for his squad in the new-year.

“You can always improve in all areas and I have never set a limit,” Pochettino told the Standard. “As with tactical situations, you can always improve your physical condition and you can always do better every day.

“That is our challenge: never to stop working, and after that we will see where the limit is."

It was famously said by his old Southampton team that you need two hearts to be a player in Pochettino's side and Spurs are still making the transition to his rigorous methods.

The Argentine made a slow start at White Hart Lane, but his unique style has begun to pay off over recent weeks and the side are certainly making progress.

Tottenham are stationed just outside the Champions League spots as things stand, while they have also made it to the League Cup semi-finals.

It means that the Lilywhites have the potential to make this season one of their most memorable for some time and it seems Pochettino is determined to work has hard as possible to ensure that they seize their chance.
