A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta says the side need to maintain pressure on Chelsea.

City drew level on points with the Blues before their 2-0 win at Stoke earlier this week.

“I think that, at Christmas, spirit is always crucial to try and win all the games, because it can make a big difference,” said the Argentine.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini says it will be a long five months as the side battles against Chelsea for the Premier League title.

The Chilean is confident that City can secure what would be their third league crown in the last four years.

“You never win the title in December. We have a long five months to continue playing as well as we are doing so far, and we will see at the end of the season which team has most points,” said Pellegrini.

Barcelona legend Xavi has revealed how he could have been playing for Manchester City this season.

The Spanish midfielder nearly linked up with City’s sister club New York City, which could have seen him loaned to City in a similar deal to Frank Lampard.

“You see, I was nearly screwed because maybe I’d have faced the club [playing for Manchester City]” Xavi told Sport.
