Tottenham latest, Bentaleb on Leicester trip, Pochettino may sell fringe players

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Christmas Eve.

Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has said the side must keep improving by taking another win in the Premier League when the face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs currently sit in seventh in the Premier League, and four points off the top four as they continue their pursuit of Champions League football.

The youngster told the club's website: “We’re in a good way and we have to continue like this. We have to keep improving like we have been doing and try to take the three points at Leicester.”

Roberto Soldado told the Tottenham website that a win against the Foxes will set them up perfectly for the festive period for games against Manchester United and Chelsea.

“We know that, on the pitch, three points will be very important for us ahead of Manchester United and then Chelsea at home."

Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino is to step up the side's intensity in training in the New Year according to the London Evening Standard.

He said: “You can always improve in all areas and I have never set a limit. As with tactical situations, you can always improve your physical condition and you can always do better every day."

The Standard added Pochettino is keen to sell some of the side's fringe players in the January window but has said he is happy with the players at his disposal, and is in regular contact with chairman Daniel Levy.

He said: “We have had a lot of private chats and I have told him my thoughts. But I would never apply pressure about this matter and I am happy with the squad."
