Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has looked ahead to his side’s clash with Leicester City on Boxing Day, when he is set to come face to face with countryman Riyad Mahrez.
The two Algerians have enjoyed mixed fortunes this season. Bentaleb has made 15 appearances for a Tottenham side currently seventh in the Premier League table and just two points outside the European places while Mahrez has featured 14 times for a Leicester side rooted to the bottom of the table.
The Foxes are five points clear of safety and will be hoping they can get plenty more points on the board in the second half of the campaign, but that will be easier said than done.
Looking ahead to the match, Bentaleb told Tottenham’s official website, “I know Riyad very well, he’s my friend.
“He’s a good player, quick on the ball and really good in one-against-one situations. He’s been fantastic for Leicester this season and a player we will have to watch.”
Bentaleb has started the last five league matches since his return from injury but there is plenty of competition for a midfield position at White Hart Lane and it will be interesting to see who manager Mauricio Pochettino opts for as the matches come thick and fast.
