Recent reports have suggested Manchester United are prepared to offer £120million for Real Madrid player Gareth Bale.
Some stories even claimed the offer had already arrived in the Spanish capital while United manager Louis van Gaal stoked the flames of speculation when he refused to discuss who the club were or were not interested in this January.
Well now Spanish website DefensaCentral.com claims Bale has reassured Real that he has no intention of leaving.
In truth the rumour made little sense. After all, why would United splash so much cash on Bale when they already have Angel Di Maria at the club and with a box-to-box midfielder and an experienced centre-back far higher on their list of priorities?
But now it is being reported that the Welshman has spoken to Real president Florentino Perez to stress that the reports are simply rumours and he has no intention of leaving the European champions so soon after arriving.
In fact that report claims the alleged United target “will not leave for anything” but do not expect the rumours to stop as a result.
This is one the media have grabbed hold of as they search for additional hits…no matter how little sense it makes to any and all right-minded football fans.
