Arsenal morning news: Arsenal 'still in my heart' says Alex Song; Wenger on Chambers

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been discussing Calum Chambers, a summer signing from Southampton. The teenager was brought in as a player for the future but injury troubles have seen him play more than Arsenal would have first wanted him too.

Wenger has now admitted as much, after removing him from centre-back to play Liverpool in favour of full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

Wenger said of Chambers:

“For a 19-year-old player, he has played too many games. They all hit the wall after 15, 17 games. You have to give them a breather, refresh and get them back again. At the moment, to have that responsibility in every single game is a lot on a player of that age.”

Alex Song has been talking about Arsenal, ahead of meeting them on Sunday at Upton Park.

The Cameroonian international spent six years as an Arsenal player before joining Barcelona in 2012. He struggled for first-team football in Spain so this summer chose to join The Hammers on a season-long loan.

But he admits he still has a lot of love for his former team:

"Always, this big family will be in my heart. I'll never forget because what I am now is because of Arsenal, but now it’s important to play against them.

"We’ll enjoy the game, it’s not easy when you play your old team. I just have to do my job.

"Right now, I'm a West Ham player and will focus on that game. We know it's not easy, but I will try to help my team win the game."

Arsenal are said to be scouting Jordan Veretout of Ligue 1 side Nantes.

The French under-21 international is reportedly available for just a £4 million buy-out clause. Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the highly rated midfielder.
